Untold millions of years ago, they came up from the sea. They crawled onto the shores, soon developing the ability to breath in the air. This was the beginning. From these first simple fish capable of processing air all land creatures sprang forth.

As time progressed, these fish began to develop attributes which allowed them to thrive in their environments, and they multiplied. Some groups fell to the wayside and died out; others developed and filled new niches. The foundations of diversity came into being. Balance was achieved.

But balance would not last. The ground shifted and the weather patterns changed. Species that were ill prepared for the changing environment could no longer survive allowing lesser species, who were more suited, to flourish. The balance was recovered.

The fauna inhabiting the Earth had become acutely diverse, adapting to fill ever more specialized niches, constantly testing the balance of Nature. Predators became better hunters, the prey developed defenses or perished. Those that did not respect the balance quickly became extinct.

Such was the cycle of Nature. Species would adapt to fill specific niches, meeting the challenges before them or dying out in the face of a changing environment or their place in the food chain. This continued until a species mastered the flows of this cycle: feeding at will, reproducing in numbers beyond imagination, protecting itself from the ravages of an uncaring environment. This species was not the most evolved, claiming none of the best evolutionary enhancements. It was simply in the right position to take advantage of the environment and control the balance. It became evolutionarily dominant...

Guide a species from the earliest beginnings to the height of the evolutionary ladder in this exciting new board game! In Anamality, progressively adapt your creature to become a better hunter, more suited to the environment, or better able to change the world around it.

Strive to become the dominant species the world has ever seen by excelling in reproduction, feeding, and adaptation. Develop your creature into a super predator, terrifying prey across the biome, or a behemoth herbivore consuming massive quantities of food, or a small, selectively adapted creature that falls beneath the notice of your larger cousins.

Respect the balance of Nature. Competition for the limited resources is fierce, but care must be taken not overindulge or environmental repercussions could ensue. Maintain the balance to survive, break the balance to win.
